Visual ArtsAlthough I am an artist by profession, in truth making art has been a way of life for me. I have done it to one degree or another since childhood and few experiences are as gratifying as sharing this passion with others. Fewer and fewer of us actually make things anymore and putting a brush or lump of clay in someone's hands really engages them. Regardless of age, people feel compelled to create something with no real purpose, just for the joy of making it. Of course, this is merely the seductive part. The subversive piece is that no one can create an image without examining their subject in detail. The purpose is to use people's natural creativity to cause them to look more closely at the world around them. In that way I hope to help my students gain a deeper appreciation of all aspects of their lives.
